The formula
Calculate the volume in cubic feet, then divide by the Sakrete bag yield: roughly 0.60 ft³ for an 80 lb bag, 0.45 ft³ for a 60 lb bag, and 0.30 ft³ for a 40 lb bag:
Bags = Volume (ft³) ÷ Bag yield (ft³), rounded up
Worked example. An 8 ft × 4 ft slab at 4 inches thick is 10.7 cubic feet, so you would need about 18 × 80 lb, 24 × 60 lb, or 36 × 40 lb bags of Sakrete before waste.
